Why Georgia? Our story.

Welcome to Camp Itara – A Dream Born from the Road

🏡 Now with new bathrooms, showers, a cozy outdoor kitchen, and a charming 2-bedroom cottage!

We are Claudia & Christoph, a traveling family from Germany, who left everything behind in the fall of 2020 in search of a new beginning. Together with our children, we wanted to create a life closer to nature, simplicity, and human connection.

Like many fellow travelers, we knew that in order to start something new, we had to first let go – of things, of routines, and of the familiar. During the pandemic, we converted an old motorhome and began our journey into the unknown. We explored Italy, Greece, the Balkans, Eastern Europe, and Turkey—but it was Georgia that truly captured our hearts.

There, in the midst of stunning nature, we found an abandoned property with a crumbling house. It was affordable, full of potential, and most importantly, it felt like home. With the support of our newfound Georgian friends and neighbors, we made a bold decision: we bought the land.

Having spent all our savings, we sold our beloved motorhome back in Germany to fund the first renovations. It was a bittersweet step—but it gave us the means to build.

Right from the start, travelers began to visit us—some we had met on the road, others had heard about our story. They stopped by for a chat, some help with repairs, or simply a warm shower. That’s how the idea of Camp Itara was born.

In the spring of 2022, we listed Camp Itara on Park4Night—and were amazed at the response. Word spread quickly, and visitors from all over began stopping by.

🌟 Now, four years later, we’re proud to share that Camp Itara has grown! We've added:

🚿 Modern bathrooms and hot showers
🍳 A private outdoor kitchen for guests
🏠 A charming cottage with two double bedrooms
🌿 Spacious grass camping pitches with electricity, Wi-Fi, and laundry

We’ve created a space that reflects everything we love about traveling: connection, simplicity, and freedom—and we’re excited to welcome you to our little paradise in Georgia.

Come stay with us. Hear our story. Share yours. And take a breath of fresh air. 💚
